Christmas nails, 13th of December

13th of December is St. Lucy's Day. Lucia was a young Sicilian girl who was martyred, killed for her faith, in 304.

Lucia was a Christian, and that was dangerous at the time. The Romans saw Christianity as an enemy of the Roman Empire, and therefore it was forbidden to be a Christian. If a Christian were reported to the authorities, he or she risked being tortured and executed. This was partly due to the fact that the Christian inhabitants refused to sacrifice to the emperor. The Christians was willing to pray for the emperor and for the Roman Empire, but to sacrifice to him as a god - they did not want to do that. They accepted only one God.

Therefore, many Christians hid in the catacombs of the cities (underground tombs), where they could secretly live as Christians. Lucia wanted to help her fellow human beings and therefore snuck out into the night to hand out food to the poor. To be able to see in the darkness of the night, and at the same time to have her hands free to help, she wore a wreath with candles on her head. Lucy means light, so her name was very appropriate.

When Lucia's mother later miraculously recovered from a fatal illness, Lucia promised to dedicate her life to Christ. Lucia therefore refused to marry the man her family had promised her away to according to the custom of the time. The man was upset about being rejected and avenged himself by reporting Lucia to the authorities. She was arrested during Diocletian's persecution and cleansing of Christians. She was killed on December 13, year 304, which is now the date of her celebration.

I decided to make galaxy nails in her honour because she did her deeds when it was dark.

Christmas nails

I used four polishes for this:

Purple: Rimmel "Pompous"

Baby blue: Rimmel "Aqua Cool"

Magenta: Rimmel Galaxy Dust "Luna Love"

Holo glitter topper: Top Shelf Lacquer "It's Not What You Drink"

Christmas nails

I really like these.

Here are the polishes and the stickers I used.

I'm sorry for the long post but I really like the story of St. Lucy.
