Tonic Polish ~ Dark purple no named prototype

Tonic Polish ~ Dark purple no named prototype
Blackened purple with holo dust

Tonic Polish put a bunch of prototypes up for sale recently and I bought some of them. I love surprises in the shape of grab bags, but I must admit that I'm beginning to reach a point where I might stop buying them. My collection of polish is big now and it's really nice to actually pick the exact polishes you want. We'll see if I stick to that - or if I keep buying surprise nail mail.

This first prototype is a blackened purple with added holographic goodness.

The formula is thick but still easy to apply. I used two coats for my manicure - I think I would have been able to get away with one coat if I had wanted to. The drying time was good though, so I went with two coats.

The stamp is from the stamping plate "Nicole Diary-095". I stamped with Colour Alike's stamping polish "Sweet Dreams".

Here's the end result, including a layer of topcoat. This photo is taken with flash.

Here's the same thing outside; with the sun behind a big cloud.

Here's the Tonic alone; two coats and no topcoat. The photo is taken in a short flash of sunray.

And here it is photographed with flash in order to show the holo effect.

These are the things I used today.

This polish is too dark for me to wear on its own. It would have been way better if the holo effect was in your face :D

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Good
Finish: Sparse holographic
Overall impression: Very dark, relatively thick, good coverage
Buy again: Nah

  1. I think it's a sweet polish but nothing to special. Good luck with not buying grab bags 😁

  2. Dare I ask how much polish you have roughly?

It is a lovely polish, but looks dark blue on my screen. Nice stamping :-D

    1. I stopped counting at around 600, and that's a LONG time ago. I honestly don't know. I have a big box of shame where the "naughty" polishes go, and those polishes I either sell or give away, depending :)

    2. I don't have the heart to give away or sell any of mine! ;-)

  3. It looks a very dark blue to me too... Sometimes it's difficult to distinguish dark purple from dark blue, maybe it's really a question of screen settings... Anyway, I like it very, very much! :-)

    1. I'm so glad that you like it. And yes, the colours can vary on the screen for sure. :)
