Sally Hansen Color Therapy ~ Slicks and Stones

Sally Hansen Color Therapy ~ Slicks and Stones
Dark purple with iridescent shimmer that flashes antique gold and medium purple

I honestly should have googled for swatches before I bought this polish. It looks really impressive in the bottle, the iridescent shimmer is so pretty. Unfortunately it doesn’t transfer just as pretty onto the nails.

Never mind. The formula is really good and the polish was so easy to work with. The brush is good too – I like a flat brush with a rounded tip that makes it easy to work around the cuticles without getting the polish onto them. The drying time is good.

I decided to try something I haven’t tried before: Stamping with powder! I have watched quite a lot of videos and it looks so easy so I wanted to give it a go.

I applied a layer of Orly’s Bonder. It leaves a slighty rubbery surface, which should be really good to make the powder stick to.

The powder refused to be rubbed into the stamping plate though, and I just could not pick up a decent design onto the stamper. I tried all my powders without luck so I gave up eventually. I ended up rubbing a beautiful purple flakie-powder directly onto the nails, and I can report that Orly’s bonder works perfectly as a bonder for the powder.

The stamp on top of the powder is from Moyou London’s stamping plate “Illusion Collection – 02”. I stamped with Color Club’s “Miss Bliss”.

Here’s the end result, including a layer of topcoat.

This is what it looks like in my light box. I really like the effect of this flakie powder. Also check out the look of “Slicks and Stones” in the bottle! Doesn’t that look pretty? Imagine if it looked like that on the nails as well!

It doesn’t quite look like that. Here’s two coats of “Slicks and Stones” alone. It’s two coats and no topcoat yet.

And here are the things I used today.

I honestly don’t know why stamping with powders doesn’t worked for me. I have a variety of them and I would have thought that at least some of them worked, but no. Oh well – it is not like I can’t use them. Perhaps you’ve got a tip for me to make it stick to the stamping plate?

Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Good
Finish: Shimmer
Overall impression: Great formula and brush. I love the look of the polish in the bottle and wish that more of the shimmer had transferred onto the nails
