OPI DS ~ Extravagance

OPI DS ~ Extravagance
Deep wine/berry colour with a scattered holographic effect

I’ve said for a long time, that I’m not really an OPI fan. I don’t think the quality of the polishes justifies the ridiculously high prices. I don’t know what an ordinary OPI costs where you live, but the normal price here is 125DKK, that equals 22US$! And the polishes from the Designer series are even more expensive. But sometimes I see a polish that I just gots to have, and Extravagance is such a polish.

Extravagance is from the DS Designer series from autumn 2008, and is a deep berry coloured holographic. The formula is fantastic. If all OPI polishes were like this one, I wouldn’t be buying anything but OPIs. It glided on in two easy coats, leaving no brush strokes or bald spots whatsoever. And the drying time was pretty quick too, which I don’t think is a norm for OPI.

Here’s a picture taken in the sun. Two coats and one coat of Seche Vite top coat:

Isn’t it just beautiful!? The holo looks so pretty!! I think it’s even more beautiful on the nails than in the bottle, so I’m very pleased with this polish.

Here’s a pic taken in my light box.

I haven't dotted for a while, so I found Sally Hansen's "Celeb City" and my dotting tool and dotted away :D

I’ve ordered one more of the polishes from the designer series, but it hasn’t arrived yet. I hope it can live up to this one!

Are you an OPI fan or not?

  3. I am OPI fan! But the price of these in your country :S and I thought they were expensive in my country (Estonia) where their regular polishes are around 10-12€ and DS was I think 16€ (I am not sure).
    Love your mani!

  6. It is gorgeous! I'm glad you decided to order this one :-) Personally I haven't tried any OPI polishes (I can't justify spending that much money) but I do like their nail care range.
PS Your iswap tab is a great idea by the way

    1. I must admit that I think it's too much money to spend on one polish, but... yeah, you know... :D
Thank - I thought it would be cool to get some of those good polishes moving. I don't feel like selling them. Swapping seems like a much better idea. That way I might also get my hands on some polishes I can't get myself. :)

  7. I was so disappointed with this polish the first time I wore it but after I wore it for a second time in the sun I fell in love. It looks great on you!

    1. This polish is definitely prettier in the sun. But I'm also liking red wine/berry colours, so I also find it pretty indoors where the holo doesn't show itself very much.
      And thanks! :)

OPI is so not my favourite brand, but sometimes they tempt me into buying something anyway :D

  10. OPI prices are insane outside of the US, aren't they? Extravagance is just dreamy, though. I loved the formula too, and when I wore it out into the sun I could not stop staring at my hands. ;)

    1. Prices here are insane in general, which is why internet shopping is so convenient for me :)
Once I get to visit the US I guess my suitcase will be stuffed with nail polish when I travel back home! :D
