Avon Matte ~ Violetta
Dark matte purple
Avon is a new and not so easy to obtain brand for me.
That means I haven’t seen it at my regular online nail polish shops. I bought
this matte purple in a blog sale. I didn’t buy it because it’s a matte, because
I really like shiny things. I bought it because I really liked the colour, and
I know that the top coat does the shiny trick.
The application was a
challenge, but that’s obviously because I’m a newcomer when it comes to matte
polishes. It dried so fast that it was really unforgiving. Every thin spot
showed up mercilessly. The brush was a dream to work with though – nice and
wide, without being unmanageable. The second layer went better, now that I knew
what to expect, so I got everything nicely smoothed out.
This polish is so thick and
pigmented that it is a perfect stamping polish too! Yay for that.
Here is how it ended up
looking, two coats, but no top coat:
It looks a little bit like
silk – and it feels like it too! And the pic is pretty colour accurate.
But! As I said: I like it shiny,
so I decided to stamp on this. I used Barry M’s “Lilac foil”, and the stamping
plate BM206 from Bundlemonster.
Here’s what it looked like
after a generous coat of Seche Vite:
I must admit that I’m not
100 % satisfied with this mani. Seche smudged the stamp too much, and I haven’t
stamped as evenly as I’d like to. Having said that, I must say that it looks
much better in real life. I guess that’s what matters, really.
What do you think? Would you
use this matte polish on its own? Should I have?

I really like this mani! It is beautiful on its own, too! I have never tried any polishes from Avon before. I may have to change that :)
ReplyDeleteI actually bought a couple of Avon polishes in that blog sale, but this is the first one I have tried on :)
DeleteI love it! I was looking for it here but I couldn't find it in the catalouge :( I hope it will be available soon.
ReplyDeleteI cross my fingers for you that you'll find it.
DeleteWow that is such a pretty matte purple!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I was very positively surprised over this polish :)
DeleteSo nice, it's such a pretty matte.
ReplyDeleteI still haven´t used any AVON matte nail polishes, but I think I should, because this on looks just great! I love the combo with stamping!
ReplyDeleteI think you should too, and I'll be sure to check out the posts about it if you decide to :) Thank you!
DeleteI also have it and also love the color of it :).
ReplyDeleteI used it only on it's own and even more than once :). It's actually one of my favourite Avon's nail polishes. What I don't like - it's the longevity (more than 2 days without chips it doesn't stay on me :( ).
I don't know, how in other countries, but in Ukraine Avon matte nail polishes are already discontinued. They rarely appear in catalogues, but if they do then they have a sign that the amount of the products is already limited, so if you order, you might not get it.
Yes, the colour is quite amazing, isn't it. I definitely see myself wearing it again :)
DeleteI'm a bit envious that you can even buy Avon polishes. Denmark is hopelessly behind when it comes to nail polishes. Perhaps I should consider being a nail polish importer. :D
Talking about Ukraine, there're really a lot of Ukrainian nail polish brands and they're rather cheap, but their quality often "makes wish better" :(...
DeleteBut yes, to get Avon nail polishes it's so easy here :).
What is "rather cheap" if I may ask, just out of curiosity?
DeleteAnd how much is an Avon polish?
I know, I know, I'm way too curious. I can't help it :D
I don't mind answering ;).
DeleteIn currently Avon catalogue nail polishes from the nailwear pro, nailwear pro + and speed dry+ costs for 2,6 euro. And, for example, in the next catalogue will be a promo to buy 3 polishes for 6,9 euro.
And about prices on ukrainian nail polish brands I meant that we have here nail polishes that costs from 0,5 euro and higher (to 2,5 euro :)).
P.S. But the average salary in my town is 150-200 euros. And it's the salary of the person who graduated University... Well, yeah, that's how we live in Ukraine :/.
I can tell you even more ugly truth about living here. 1 kilogram of the cheapest cheese costs 7 euros, the Chinese noname shoes 40 euros, chinese noname jeans 60 euros. And the country has lots of resources, such as grain, maize, sunflower, canola which goes abroad. But the money from stays in the pockets only in a few persons.
DeleteAnd also we have a President which was prizoned (twice!).
Interesting, which country can also brag about this? :D
Whoa yes, that's really interesting to read. Thanks a lot for telling. It's so amazing to read how different the countries around the world are, how much people pay for various things and generally how they live. I'm very interested in reading facts like that!
DeleteAvon matte was created in 2010 and you can get them in the US fairly cheap but they are getting harder to find. If there is ever something in the US you want specifically, let me know. I would help you get it.
ReplyDeleteI'll remember that, and I will definitely be taking advantage of that offer! Thank you so much! :)
DeleteI love it as the matte! I love mattes so much I bought Essie's Matte About You top coat. I now have a lot of my polishes matte.
ReplyDeleteThe purple is a lovely colour and I love how it came out!

I haven't quite gotten used to wearing matte nail polish. I've got Orly's mattifying top coat, but I don't use it much. Not yet, anyway :)
DeleteOh this is stunning, I absolutely love this color - and it's just as nice with the stamping too!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love purple colours like these ones. So thanks :)
DeleteThis is really great! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you - that purple is pretty amazing!
