Chirality ~ Bloodshot
Deep burgundy scattered
holo
When I bought Bloodshot I wasn’t aware that there are two versions of
it. I had only seen swatches of the lighter version, so imagine my surprise
when I opened my nail mail and found the darker version! I seriously thought
that I had gotten a wrong bottle of polish, because they don’t look anywhere
near the same! And I obviously like the lighter version better.
Anyway – the polish has now been sitting in the box of untrieds long
enough, and it’s time to see if it looks the same on the nails as it looks in
the bottle.
The formula is good, no worries in that department, and I have no bad
things to say about the drying time either. It took two coats to make this
opaque.
And here’s what this very dark version of Bloodshot looks like without a
topcoat, and taken with flash:
And from a different angle:
The reason why I wanted the lighter version becomes quite clear when I
show you this picture, which is taken in lower lights without flash:
It’s really dark, and what’s worse for me: It looks brown. And I am not
fond of browns polishes in general. Not at all.
I lightened it up a bit with my to go-silver holo from Urban Outfitters.
I used a nail art brush and brushed the silver holo on from side to side down
the middle of the nails. I sealed the mani with a layer of topcoat, and here’s
the final mani taken with flash:
I quite like that. Here’s a low light pic:
I wish I had known there were two versions of Bloodshot when I bought
mine, because then my bottle would have sat unloved in a box for such a long
time.
Here are a couple of links to bloggers who show the lighter version of
Bloodshot: Colorbyte
and Life in Color.
Number of coats: 2
Drying time: Pretty fast
Drying time: Pretty fast
Finish: Well covering
crelly
Overall impression: I
usually love Chirality polishes, but was disappointed in this one because I
thought I had bought a berry colour, and I ended up with a brownish looking
polish.
Buy again: Not the dark
version, no

It's welcome in my stash - just sayin' ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the holo you added to it - it makes the finished result pretty unique!
I'll put it aside for ya with the others then ;)
DeleteAnd thank you :)
I just looked at the other version and wow, they are so different from each other. I actually like both. I'm not a huge fan of brown polishes either to be honest.
ReplyDeleteThey are ridiculously different. Imagine my surprise when I opened the box :D
DeleteWhile you may not be too fond of this shade, it's right up my ally :P
ReplyDeletewoop woop, there's a polish for everybody! :D
DeleteI like these kind of dark polishes, but I use them usually in winter time. I love the holo finish, it makes the mani more attractive!
ReplyDeleteHolo makes pretty much everything better :D And glitter too :)
DeleteWow! They are like 2 very different polishes! I like the light version, but in the right light I like the dark version as well (when looks redish), but I'm not a fan of it when it looks brownish either. :)
ReplyDeleteI simply don't understand why they would call the polish by the same name instead of just not giving it a new one. It's weird, isn't it :)
DeleteIt sure is! Would have been better with another name.
DeleteOh, beautiful deep color!
ReplyDeleteI'm pleased to hear that :)
DeleteThis is very extraordinary polish! And I like your darkest version more :)
ReplyDeleteOoh, that's really cool!
DeleteSo love this one!
ReplyDeleteYes, this is right up your alley! :)
